Formating Issues

I just spent the last few hours formatting my last post so that the text would have the same spacing as every other post I've ever made in this blog! When I first published it earlier today it was all squashed together. It was still legible and all, just not very clean looking. Most annoying. I seem to have finally done something to put it back the way I want it, but I'm not sure what that was, or how I could do it again.

Edit: I've just realised that the vast majority of you read my blog through Google Reader and wouldn't have noticed the change, as Reader uses it's own formatting for text! Hah! Still, at least it looks nice on the page now.

Question:

Why is it that every time I use Blockquotes in my blog it seems to break the text formatting from that point on? Just look at my post on G.I. Joe. The first paragraph is nicely spaced between lines. Then I put in the quote and the rest of the post is crammed together like in the style of the Blockquote. This annoys me greatly. Any help?

I've put up with it for a while, but now I'm asking for help. Is there any way I can make the margins on both sides of the page about half as small?? There is just so much empty space!! I know it makes it look clean and bright, but if I want to use images in my posts, I have to use the smallest options, or else I end up with text down one side of the image, one word a line! And that just looks silly. I just want there to be a few more words per line in the posts, nothing drastic.
